La Mundial :: A Century of a family Tradition

The story begins in July 1906, when Don Francisco Rivas decided to set up a small boot shop on the corner of Cuenca and Mideros streets in the city of Quito, Ecuador. The first boots made in that small shop were the start of what La Mundial is today.

In 1935 his son, Roberto Rivas, joined in the manufacturing of the boots while maintaining the trade secrets of his father. In 1968 Roberto's daughter, Sonia Rivas, entered the business, becoming one the first women in the country involved in the shoe manufacturing business.
